Govt plan: Keep south share unchanged in LS, list each state’s new count in ‘schedule’
The government is planning a future delimitation exercise that proposes to increase Lok Sabha seats by 50% for all states.
This delimitation is intended to be based on the 2011 Census, with a new parliamentary 'schedule' specifying state-wise allocations while maintaining current percentage shares. This move is also intrinsically linked to the operationalisation of the Women's Reservation Bill.
