Steps taken to strengthen the public healthcare system

The government is strengthening public healthcare through the National Health Mission (NHM) and its sub-missions.

Significant progress has been made in establishing Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) to provide comprehensive primary care. The Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) is a major Centrally Sponsored Scheme with a substantial outlay, focused on enhancing health infrastructure and pandemic preparedness across all care levels. Additionally, Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY offers a significant health cover for secondary and tertiary care.
