Availability of Essential Medicines in Government Hospitals

The government is actively working to ensure essential medicine availability and affordability through two key initiatives: the Free Drugs Service Initiative (FDSI) under NHM, which provides financial support to states and utilizes the DVDMS IT platform, and the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), which has established over 18,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide, including in government hospitals, to offer generic medicines at significantly reduced prices.
