Social Security Measures for Gig and Platform Workers

The government has introduced social security measures for gig and platform workers through the Code on Social Security, 2020, which came into force on November 21, 2025.

This code defines these workers, provides for a Social Security Fund, and mandates a National Social Security Board. Additionally, the e-Shram portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour & Employment, is being utilized to register these workers and integrate various welfare schemes.
