Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) Scheme

The PM-WANI scheme, launched in 2020 by the Ministry of Communications, aims to expand public Wi-Fi access through Public Data Offices (PDOs) and Public Data Office Aggregators (PDOAs) under minimal regulation.

Recent updates include DoT reforms in September 2024, a significant TRAI tariff order in June 2025, and a total of over 3.9 lakh operational Wi-Fi hotspots as of November 2025.
