Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) foils smuggling of 83,520 pieces of Chinese firecrackers worth ₹5.01 crore in ‘Operation Fire Trail’ at Tuticorin Port; 4 arrested

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) launched 'Operation Fire Trail' to combat illegal firecracker imports, leading to the interception of Chinese firecrackers worth ₹5.01 crore at Tuticorin Port in October 2025.

The operation highlighted the restricted nature of firecracker imports under India's Foreign Trade Policy and the mandatory licensing requirements from DGFT and PESO under the Explosive Rules, 2008.
