India renews Commitment to Healthy Ageing at 78th Session of the WHO Regional Committee of South-East Asia
India reaffirmed its commitment to Healthy Ageing at the 78th WHO Regional Committee in Colombo, highlighting efforts to strengthen primary healthcare for the elderly.
Key initiatives include the National Programme for Healthcare of the Elderly (NPHCE), which is operational in 92% of districts. Additionally, Ayushman Bharat PMJAY has been expanded to cover all citizens aged 70 and above. The government also established two National Centres of Ageing and seventeen Regional Geriatric Centres.
