DRI Mumbai seizes 160 tonnes of cheap, substandard Chinese toys and counterfeit cosmetics worth ₹ 6.5 crore

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Mumbai seized 160 tonnes of illegally imported Chinese toys, cosmetics, and footwear worth ₹6.5 crore.

These goods violated various quality control orders, including the Toys (Quality Control) Order 2020 and the new Footwear (Quality Control) Order 2024, by lacking mandatory BIS certification. The action underscores government efforts against unsafe imports and in support of the 'Make in India' initiative.
