Revision of the Policy for providing preference to domestically manufactured iron & steel products in government procurement

The Ministry of Steel has revised its policy for preferential procurement of domestically manufactured iron and steel products (DMI&SP), with the latest amendment on 25.07.2025.

This policy, originally from 2017, mandates government entities to prioritize domestically made steel to foster self-reliance and strengthen the Indian steel sector, including provisions for capital goods imports and support for indigenous technology suppliers.
