Wastage of Vegetables Due to Lack of Processing Facilities

The Ministry of Food Processing Industries released data on post-harvest losses for fruits and vegetables, estimated by a NABCONS study (2020-22).

To address this, MoFPI implements schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY) and Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Food Processing Industry (PLISFPI). PMKSY, a Central Sector Umbrella Scheme launched in 2016-17, supports infrastructure creation and value addition, with certain components discontinued from April 2021.
