IIT Madras Researchers develop Agriculture Waste-based Packaging Materials that can eliminate Plastic Use

IIT Madras researchers have developed biodegradable packaging materials from agricultural and paper waste, utilizing mycelium-based biocomposites.

This innovation aims to combat plastic pollution and agricultural waste in India. A startup, NatureWrks Technologies, is commercializing this sustainable solution, with research funded by IIT Madras and the Ministry of Education, published in June 2025.
