India Reinforces Commitment to WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy at 78th World Health Assembly
India affirmed its commitment to traditional medicine at the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, supporting the new WHO Global Traditional Medicine Strategy 2025–2034.
A key development includes the Ministry of Ayush and WHO signing an agreement on May 24, 2025, to develop a Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI), aimed at global recognition of Ayush systems. This builds on the foundation of the WHO Global Traditional Medicine Centre (GTMC) in Jamnagar, Gujarat, launched in 2022.
