SPACE TECHNOLOGY IN AGRICULTURE

The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare is extensively using space technology for agricultural management.

Initiatives include the FASAL project for crop forecasting, a Geoportal for drought monitoring developed with ISRO, and technological support for PMFBY. The Krishi Decision Support System (Krishi-DSS) serves as a cloud-based geospatial platform, while YESTECH, an initiative under PMFBY, has implemented Gram Panchayat-level yield estimation for key crops since Kharif 2023 using various advanced technologies.
