Inclusion of Maratha Forts in UNESCO World Heritage Site

The 'Maratha Military Landscapes of India', a collection of 12 forts, has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List during the 47th World Heritage Committee session in Paris.

This inclusion, under criteria (iv) and (vi), highlights significant Maratha forts spread across Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The report also detailed the status of properties on India's Tentative List, including sites from Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, emphasizing the mandatory nature of this step for future nominations.
