KEY FEATURES OF THE NEW CRIMINAL LAWS

The Ministry of Home Affairs detailed key features of the new criminal laws, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

These laws, effective July 1, 2024, introduce mandatory videography of crime scenes, curtail arbitrary arrests for specific purposes, and allow for trial in absentia for proclaimed offenders, aiming for a more efficient and citizen-centric justice system.
