The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying's National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) has set targets for organizing 21,902 new dairy cooperative societies during 2025-26 with an outlay of Rs.

407.37 Crore. The scheme focuses on enhancing milk quality, organized procurement, and value addition. It has also established significant infrastructure, including milk testing labs and bulk milk coolers, and maintains 4019 Mobile Veterinary Units nationwide.
