Central Consumer Protection Authority issues advisory to E-Commerce Platforms for self-audit within 3 months to detect Dark Patterns and ensure its resolution
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued an advisory for e-commerce platforms to conduct self-audits within three months to detect and resolve 'Dark Patterns'.
This initiative aligns with the Department of Consumer Affairs' 'Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns' notified in 2023, which specifies 13 types of such deceptive interfaces. A Joint Working Group has also been formed to monitor and address these violations.
