Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Banswara, Rajasthan

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs recently provided an update on Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) in the Lok Sabha, stating its focus remains on the 728 already approved schools.

It reiterated that no new EMRSs are currently under consideration, with earlier schools sanctioned under Article 275(1) and a major approval by the Union Cabinet in 2018-19. The update also clarified the twin criteria for EMRS establishment: a block must have a minimum 20,000 ST population and over 50% ST population.
