NBA releases ₹5.34 crores to Maharashtra under the Access and Benefit Sharing Framework
The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) released ₹5.34 crore to 85 Biodiversity Management Committees (BMCs) in Maharashtra under the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Framework.
This disbursement, channeled via the State Biodiversity Board, reinforces India's commitment to ensuring local communities receive fair and equitable benefits from genetic resources, including microorganisms. India is a global pioneer in ABS implementation, with total disbursements now exceeding ₹116 crores.
