PARLIAMENTARY QUESTION: Electronic Waste Management

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has updated E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, effective April 1, 2023, regulating 106 EEE.

Additionally, Battery Waste Management Rules, 2022, implemented mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) targets for all battery types, prohibiting landfill disposal. CPCB oversees e-waste estimation and portal registration, with India's e-waste projected at 13.97 lakh tonnes for FY 2024-25, promoting a circular economy.
