PLI Scheme (Production Linked Incentive)
Sector-specific scheme that pays manufacturers a percentage incentive on incremental sales over a base year, designed to boost domestic manufacturing in 14 priority sectors including semiconductors, electronics, pharmaceuticals, telecom, textiles, EVs and food processing.
Why UPSC tests this
Common UPSC angles: that PLI rewards incremental — not gross — sales, the list of 14 sectors, and the link with Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
